Why My Turf@work?

For many neurodivergent individuals, finding employment that aligns with their skills and abilities can be challenging. My Turf@work bridges this gap by offering a pathway to supported employment that nurtures professional growth while fostering confidence and independence. Designed for individuals aged 14 and up, our program ensures that everyone, regardless of where they are on their life journey, has the opportunity to thrive.

Comprehensive Training and Support

Our program kicks off with a series of weekend intensives, held over five weekends at the beautiful Cooinda Retreats Victor Harbor. These live-in programs cover everything from basic food preparation and customer service skills to advanced food techniques and job readiness. Participants receive personalised training that caters to their individual needs, with ongoing retreat support provided at a 1:2 ratio to ensure they gain the skills necessary to excel.

A standout feature of My Turf@work is the Open Eats food van, a fully operational business run by our participants. Here, they apply what they’ve learned in a real-world setting, gaining hands-on experience in food preparation, customer service, and cash handling. This experience not only builds their skills but also boosts their confidence, preparing them for future employment opportunities.

Aligning with NDIS Goals

My Turf@work is fully aligned with the NDIS, offering services under both Core Supports and Capacity Building. We recognise the importance of creating a supportive employment pathway that adheres to NDIS guidelines, ensuring that participants can effectively utilise their funding. Our program is structured to meet the criteria for Supported Employment Services (SES), offering real job opportunities with pay rates aligned to the Fair Work Supported Employment Services Award.

Empowerment Through Community

At My Turf@work, we don’t just offer employment; we offer a sense of belonging. Our participants are part of a community that values and celebrates neurodiversity. By fostering an inclusive environment, we help individuals build meaningful connections with peers and mentors, enhancing their social skills and self-esteem.
